Our story
My name is Karolina Koops, and together with my husband, Wesley,
I am the proud owner of Welsh Corgi Cardigans and Standard Dachshund.
My dream of sharing life with this wonderful breed began in childhood and, many years later, became a reality. Our kennel, Welsh Shadows FCI, is registered with
the Dutch Kennel Club, Raad van Beheer, under the regulations of the
Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). We are also members of the Nederlandse Welsh Corgi Club, following additional breeding requirements
and striving to preserve the health, temperament, and true character of the breed.
In 2021, our long-awaited red and white girl, Cookie, joined our family. She showed us what it truly means to live with a Cardigan and confirmed everything we
had admired about the breed for so many years. With her joyful personality and devoted nature, she made us fall completely in love with Welsh Corgi Cardigans.
In year 2023, Cookie achieved first success in the show ring,
and after we proudly registered our kennel name: Welsh Shadows.
A little later, two more red girls, Maggie and Lya, became part of our family, making our home wonderfully full of Cardigans. Each dog has its own unique personality, and living with them continues to be an endless source of joy, learning,
and inspiration. Dogs have always been an important part of my life. Originally,
I come from Poland, where since 2005 I have been actively helping homeless dogs in shelters. Over time, this passion became my profession for many years, continuing until I moved to the Netherlands. Working with dogs that had lost trust in people taught me patience, empathy, responsibility,
and the importance of clear communication between humans and dogs.
My husband is Dutch, and has been my greatest support throughout this journey, and together we strive to provide our dogs with a loving, stable, and fulfilling life. The experience we have gained over many years allows us to be conscious
and responsible owners, dedicated to the well-being of every dog in our care.
In 2026 year, another long-held dream became a reality. A wire-haired Standard Dachshund joined our family and opened a completely new chapter in our lives.
We hope that many beautiful moments, experiences and successes
are still ahead of us with this wonderful little companion.
